In heavy pump stations pumping river water from the Tigris, Euphrates, or Zab rivers, pumps must operate continuously without vibration or cavitation.

The concentric reducer features a symmetrical tapered transition that smoothly changes fluid velocity with minimal head loss in pump discharge lines and vertical risers. The eccentric reducer features a flat horizontal side and an inclined opposite side. When installed on horizontal centrifugal pump suction lines with the flat side oriented on top (flat-top), it completely prevents air bubbles from gathering at the top of the pipe and being sucked into the pump impeller, eliminating destructive pump cavitation, impeller pitting, and bearing failure.

Both flanges are integrally cast and precision-drilled strictly according to EN 1092-2 and ISO 7005-2 in PN10, PN16, PN25, and PN40 pressure ratings. Why must eccentric reducers be installed flat-side-up on horizontal pump suctions?

Installing a concentric reducer creates a pocket at the top where entrained air collects into a large bubble. When this bubble enters the pump suction eye, it causes instant cavitation and pump de-priming. Installing an eccentric reducer flat-side-up keeps the pipe crown completely flat, preventing air accumulation.
